Covid Phase Status

K-W Families,

I am writing to inform you K-W elementary school (K-4) will be starting FULL in person learning on Monday January 11th now instead of in person hybrid.  This is great news! What this means is we will have K-4 students reporting everyday now in person.  Wednesdays will be an early out day at 1 pm to allow teacher prep time as mandated by the Governor's executive order.  Flex learning will continue to be offered to families.

I thank you for your continued patience and support.

Bryan Boysen, Superintendent/Elementary Principal

Here are some important dates to know:

Grades 5-12: will be in a hybrid model the same as before distance learning.  “A” group in person Monday and Tuesday, “B” group in person Thursday and Friday.  Wednesday distance learning for all.

Pandemic-EBT Benefits for Families

Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may be eligible for Pandemic-Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) to purchase food for days they are not in the school building. To be considered, households must submit an application for free or reduced-price meals for the 2020-21 school year or be approved for Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Families who received P-EBT benefits last summer are not automatically eligible; eligibility is based on the current school year. Benefits may be retroactive to September 2020, depending on when eligibility for free or reduced-price meals is determined. To ensure you qualify for the most benefits, please submit your (Click here:)  APPLICATION as soon as possible. Questions? Call 507-789-7001.  Families with completed applications for educational benefits will automatically be sent the P-EBT cards.

Screening

We need your help! I know you have heard this from us a lot, but screening your child for symptoms before they come to school and keeping them home when they are sick or have symptoms will be the biggest key to keeping everyone healthy in our buildings and keeping us in the in-person model for a longer period of time.

Visit this MDH link for more screening details: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/schools/homescreen.pdf

 Activity Shuttle Bus

The activity shuttle bus continues to run at 5:30 p.m. from Kenyon to Wanamingo and then back to Kenyon daily on school days.  Please sign up with Marliss by noon so we know if the bus is needed that day.  Passes can be purchased from Marliss in the office.  Students are able to ride the elementary shuttle buses from Wanamingo to Kenyon at 2:50 p.m.
